Wide Open Spaces - E9

Filming On location! Coming to you from our travels to Arizona in some of the most beautiful parts of the world. We want to share the natural beauty and our experiences that we enjoyed as parents and empty nesters. Travel in the off season IS AWESOME! Reliving the college life with our kiddos is fun and exhausting at the same time.

Clancy Denton  0:00
Welcome to the loud quiet. Ooh, empty nester. Okay. What does that mean?

Rick Denton  0:06
I think that actually probably is the theme of the empty nest. What are we doing? Let's do this. Let's do this thing. is this Recording.

Clancy Denton  0:15
Okay, Great

Sans, children just does we need to tissue box up here. Follow along on our journey and maybe you know we can learn from others.

Rick Denton  0:23
I don't have a clue how to be empty nesters

Clancy Denton  0:25
this is the loud quiet, living the empty nest

Rick Denton  0:31
Hey everybody, welcome to episode nine of the loud quiet you can already tell if you're watching this. It's gonna be a little different episode today. As you can see, we are on the road heading to Parents Weekend, both at Arizona State and University of Arizona. Thank you to our wonderful Uber driver Phil and Bunny Esch. We appreciate y'all so much for making this happen. For those of you that are just listening, I am going to encourage you to do something different this week and it is going to be turn on your video head over to Spotify, watch the video there. Or YouTube where you will see the full video because today is a video heavy episode. It's been so exciting to record this you know we were anticipating this for a while even. And you can tell we were gone for a while this we've got three suitcases now. Let's be fair, some of that is stuff for Tanner. But you got that anticipation as you're walking up seeing that Phoenix flight. And thankfully this one was on time.

And you're getting that feeling of oh, I'm finally going to be able to see the kids and it's going to be just such we were just filled with such anticipation and excitement for the weekend. There's that moment as you're coming into Phoenix where you have that glorious view of you're sitting on the correct side of the plane of Camelback. And, you know, this is the moment I'm finally here

we're gonna start videoing as we head out to the Grand Canyon. Some things that happened before this. But we decided let's just turn the camera on once we finally got here to the camera. Lots to tell it's going to be a fun episode, head over, turn that video on. And enjoy episode nine.

Clancy Denton  2:25
Oh, hey, we're here at the Grand Canyon, doing a live remote from for The Loud Quiet

Rick Denton  2:33
We'll see how this works. We're not even sure if the mics are on. So entertainment. But hopefully you can see just a little taste of the view that we are seeing here. This is an incredibly special place. This was the Kaibab trail now about a mile and a half down. And looking around. It's amazing how deep we got. And how much more there is to go. We'll be turning around. This place is special a little different than the other part of Parents Weekend that we've been a part of. But it has been nice. You can tell the weather. It's just absolutely spectacular. There's no crowds here either. So there's there's a little emptiness tip go on a Monday in September. And there is almost nobody in the park and it has been fantastic.

Clancy Denton  3:23
Yeah, it's been really nice not having people on the trail right on top of you and not. Yeah, we can just come down and take our time and it's going to take a lot longer to get back up. We've seen several hovers and peppers on the way back up.

Rick Denton  3:40
There's a reason we filmed this at the bottom of the trail rather than before we turned around. And it really is this is one of the things that we're getting to experience as an investor because this would be yes, we can anyway you take time off from work and do those sorts of things. But it would be a one day of school. There'd be drill team there'd be that there'd be something that would be a reason why we wouldn't be out here and this has been great.

Clancy Denton  4:02
Yeah, no, I I I enjoyed our other time that we were here with kids and we did the bike ride. But this is nice that you know it's like September it was you know what, 45 degrees when we left our hotel this morning and you know, I think 60 When we got here the sun feels so nice. Yeah, it's just it's really nice. It's it's a well needed recovery from our crazy weekend with Tanner which was an absolute blast. This was all of the parents weekends have been fun with this was the way to go out with just a bang. Senior year Parents Weekend. Oh my gosh was nonstop. Like we were back in college. I mean it was just it was so much fun. It was

Rick Denton  4:51
when did we get back to our hotel room the first night which is the night that we flew in waking up essentially three o'clock in the morning when did we get home or hotel

Clancy Denton  5:00
Oh, well, yeah. 1230 right, Phoenix times of 230.

Rick Denton  5:04
So we were almost

Clancy Denton  5:08
So, but it was just so much fun. And just, you know, a lot of parents actually didn't come this weekend because they said it was just too close to drop off. And, you know, Arizona State has a huge out of state population. So it's not, you know, some people can't get all the way from Connecticut or, you know, other sides of the East Coast. And so it was great that you know, Tanner's four roommates, we've all come every year, except freshman year and so it's so much fun to get together with them Friday night for dinner. Then we went to another bar with another group of Tanner's friends after that, yeah,

Rick Denton  5:52
let's stop right there. Let's Let's talk for a second. Do you mind we went out first went to Houstons had a drink with Tanner then we went to dinner uncle sells enjoyed all that. And then after uncle sales we went

Clancy Denton  6:04
that ever, which we loved that little oyster bar,

Rick Denton  6:09
is that an emptiness thing? Or is that the last happy or last appearance? We can think because I don't know the last time I've ever said after dinner Hey, yeah, let's keep going.

Clancy Denton  6:16
I think we both were of the mindset that we are going to do everything that he wants us to do, because there were a lot of these places, even with the fake you couldn't get in right. And now he could get into them. And so we

Rick Denton  6:30
that's not tears by the way, sunscreens getting

Clancy Denton  6:34
really emotional. We went in with the attitude that we were going to do everything that he wanted. And we did full force all from the time we landed Friday, all day Saturday. And we're brunches they were the Casa. Let's talk about

Rick Denton  6:52
I definitely felt like I was back at a KA keg party or something like that.

Clancy Denton  6:56
Now, the KA keg party was like his Sigma Chi. Much different sophomore year. This we were I mean, I even told her it. Were your bad tennis shoes, because I remember what the bars and clubs are like, you know, but but it was so much. I mean, after waiting in line for 45 minutes,

Rick Denton  7:18
waiting in line to pay for sticky overpriced beer.

Clancy Denton  7:22
So it was so much fun. They had the music going, it was outdoors.

Rick Denton  7:28
All one of the greatest things about Phoenix is outdoors.

Clancy Denton  7:33
They're a group, you know, all showed up? We got to meet some people that we haven't met before. And yes, we all moms have our buckets, buckets. So yeah, costly. You get this bucket, and you just tell them what drink you want in the bucket. So you have a how many ounces Do you think that was? Probably 32. Yeah. Really? Yeah. So you know, I was walking around with my 32 ounce Margarita.

Rick Denton  8:02
Like buckets cuz you and I thought when Tanner was telling us about it's like a metal bucket six beers. I didn't know this is like the little kids toy that you take to them. And they've converted it into booze for kids or college kids and their parents. I do think they mixed up the music or change the music for Parents Weekend. It definitely

Clancy Denton  8:20
wasn't a lot of stuff. Well, there was a mix. There was some stuff from ours. There was it was fun, but yeah, it was that was it was again. I was thinking okay, I just have to mentally rebrand myself. Everyone is going to be bumping into us it's gonna be you know, but it wasn't it was there was still around a move and yeah, it was it was really that was a lot of fun. It was a lot of

Rick Denton  8:45
fun. And you know you keep that in mind that it is the last Parents Weekend and so you don't know it could be and I'm sure that's part of why we were saying or yes is and why that was a key part of being a part of it. But my gosh, the things that we chose to do on that weekend were a lot of fun. Want to know

Clancy Denton  9:04
Yeah, it was just it was really fun. And then we went to our favorite took another group to our favorite sushi place. You know we have our list of places that we need to go

Rick Denton  9:18
Yeah, one thing that was particularly nice we did sushi Holly came back and it was nice when we did go out and hike on Sunday morning. And I always like getting a Phoenix hiding. What was nice though is because we're staying here this week. We didn't have to worry about getting on a plane on Sunday. And kind of empty nester vibe is you know we can just okay you know, let's be out here this week. Let's do that and that was nice meeting Tanner to watch the debacle that was the Cowboys game

Clancy Denton  9:44
but yeah, we usually on what we usually do on Sundays is we either don't see him Sunday morning Are we do a quick breakfast and brunch or head straight to the airport. So yeah, that was really nice that we just got to get in the car and drive to Flagstaff and know that we'll be back in Phoenix tomorrow to see em and then on to Tucson on Wednesday to see tn.

Rick Denton  10:07
I'm looking forward to that that drive to Flagstaff was really nice. We definitely liked some of the views that we got to see were absolutely gorgeous. And it just remind you, I had this mental image of Phoenix, that desert. The reality is, it's a lot more than the desert. And that's it. I'm so glad that the kids came out here. And I'm glad that the kids came to a place that if we're going to be empty nesters, let's, let's go to Arizona, where heck, people go retire anyway.

Clancy Denton  10:33
And you could definitely tell we walked into our hotel last night. We were the youngest ones. They

Rick Denton  10:38
were not young, it just you could tell it was all retirees and our viewers. Yeah, it was it was great. I am looking forward to so we'll spend the rest of the day here and drive back to Phoenix which cracks me up when you were at the we were buying that T shirt at the bookstore. And I had an open to deceive as messed up and you oh well. We'll be back here Tuesday in return. I kind of forgot to be back. It will be good. I got to work a couple of days. But it will be nice to now go CT and like now we did our Tanner thing and it's time few days in Phoenix and then who it's going to be the to sign and we talked about this that we feel so comfortable. Like everything we know I don't know squat about Tucson. So we're going into this just brand new and I'm eagerly looking forward to that you are trying to find restaurants to take the friends to teens friends to we're trying to find places that we'd want to go. And Tegan is not Tanner. And so our experiences are going to be different and they're going to be great. I'm really looking forward to the Tucson vibe.

Clancy Denton  11:32
Yeah. And I'm excited to go you know, we didn't go to the football game right at ASU 10. Or none of the seniors were really interested in their teams not doing great and they didn't want to see them just get demolished by USC. So good. All right. But, but it'll be fun to go to the UVA game and just get to experience a different because their school is smaller. It is you know, it is still a big school, but it's a smaller stadium is small enough so that that'll be fun. I'm really looking forward and I'm really looking forward to meeting Tegan friends, you know, these boys and girls that we met Tanner's freshman year, you know, we still see them. You know, this weekend, that's who we hung out with. And so it'll be fun, but it's great to be all fun. You know, I don't know. It doesn't seem like there's a ton of her friends parents coming in for the game, but several of them are from Arizona, so I don't know.

Rick Denton  12:27
Anyway, Sam, I hope that we get to meet him better.

Clancy Denton  12:29
I'm excited. Excited to see her friends and meet her friends and the ones that she's made so far. So yeah, yeah, well,

Rick Denton  12:35
that'll probably be expected Jumpcut here to Tucson, right. But this was, this has been fun. We actually haven't done a remote recording. So one, I hope it works. And to enjoy where this goes. i We love it out here. And we love where we're gonna go. So I'm not doing the emptiness now. Because we want to record

Clancy Denton  12:55
but stay tuned. We might we might put our mics on and record from some other places. I mean, when we go back to Phoenix, we might have had to do

Rick Denton  13:03
all right

all right, so another on location. shot here. Thank you can tell under the camera doesn't show it all. But my gosh, we have stumbled into an absolutely gorgeous place. Saguaro National Park and I hope that I've said that correctly. I forgot

Clancy Denton  13:38
to research it before Arizona. Sorry if we just pictured that name.

Rick Denton  13:41
But the cactus, the cacti that you see all around is not the one actually right behind us. But the tall, skinny one there. Those are the saguaro cactus. And this place is just littered with them this view that we're looking at straight down into the canyon

Clancy Denton  13:57
as we drove, and I mean, the mountain side was just covered. That's all it is. Yeah, it's just,

Rick Denton  14:02
it's basically a forest. It's a desert forest. These are the trees behind that forest. short, little short, little one mile hike to get up here, but we were huffing and puffing. Yeah, elevation and heat do come into play more than I think we realize. Yeah,

Clancy Denton  14:17
but it's still nice, and there's a nice breeze and it's a little overcast. So it's not too bad, but we are right outside of Tucson. Yeah. So we've made it to Tucson for part two of our trip. So that's

Rick Denton  14:31
it part two, but it's really kind of part 567. So at Nesta kind of rocks and is that we've said

Clancy Denton  14:39
we've only been here since Friday, a week but it feels like we've been gone for three weeks because everything we've been doing and

Rick Denton  14:48
it feels like he feels this sort of distant

Clancy Denton  14:51
thing because our kids are here I think I think that's what makes it feel we don't have we didn't leave Tegan at home right to come visit sure are you know are it's just a house and a character? Yeah. Which he is being well taken care of. Thank you. So, but yeah, so you know we did the Grand Canyon Monday, Tuesday,

Rick Denton  15:15
Tuesday and Wednesday both I had to work chose to work. Let's use the right words here. Nobody has to I chose to work those days.

Clancy Denton  15:22
I got to live the empty nest. retired life life. That was nice. I got to work out in the gym and then, you know, laid out by the pool was nice. I mean, again, offseason travel awesome. It was me and two other people at this huge resort pool.

Rick Denton  15:42
And shout out Hilton cavesson. Again, a nice property feel free to sponsor future episodes, but knows a great in Scottsdale in Scottsdale. Yeah. And in the north part of Scottsdale really nice property relatively new. But you're right about the offseason. It may be hard to tell on camera, but there is

Clancy Denton  16:00
no one. There were us and one other car in the parking lot. Well, we got

Rick Denton  16:05
and we saw those three people leaving. Yeah. So the it's empty. So the empty nest travel part of it. Maybe that's the empty of the empty nest. Part of it is there's no one around

Clancy Denton  16:16
it, isn't it? No, I laid out by the pool. And then you chose to work on East Coast time. So he came and picked you up and then we both got to enjoy the pool.

Rick Denton  16:25
That was that was really nice. Now it hurt to start meetings at 530 in the morning, although I got a lot of comments about Gosh, it's dark where you are. Yeah, well, it's 530. And then as the sun comes up, another great thing about here, I was working outside now get addicted to that for sure.

Clancy Denton  16:40
And that's one thing that Tegan has said she loves. I mean, we'll get into more of her conversation with us last night. But she said she loves living here because yes, she takes her laptop in between classes and just sits outside. And it's nice enough to do that and get their work done that way. So

Rick Denton  16:58
I mean, look, I'm standing out here and it is almost there's a whisper of a cloud on top of us. And this is pleasant. Yeah.

Clancy Denton  17:05
There's a nice breeze and give me more. No humidity is really, really. I feel my skin is you'd have to live here to get yesterday but yeah, my skin. My skin is dry

Rick Denton  17:17
aquaphor and chapstick are gonna get rich off of us this weekend indeed. Yeah. But then we

Clancy Denton  17:22
found that really, really neat restaurant in Scottsdale, Scottsdale called Buck and Rider. And they're opening one in Dallas when the bartender told us that we were like, Oh, that's good. Because it was great. The food was excellent. The Happy Hour, happy hour. Oysters, oysters were great. Very vibrant. Oysters on this trip, which I never expected to come to Arizona, because oysters but

Rick Denton  17:48
that that must match up and we'll need to look into. But they've been great though. Of course. I mean with airplane seafoods coming from anywhere. So it doesn't matter.

Clancy Denton  17:56
But it's just interesting. We've never

Rick Denton  18:00
oysters haven't been our jiao all the time. And here it is. Yeah, it was it was a great happy hour. And then that's I think what I love about a restaurant like that is it feels it's Cheney, but it felt different. And who knows, maybe just because it was new, and we were travelers, if we lived there and feel like just another chain restaurant. It just had a great vibe to it. We've had great service everywhere. There's something about the the customer service in Arizona that has continued to impress us.

Clancy Denton  18:25
And when I looked, they have three locations, but they're all around Scottsdale. And then I mean, there's one in Gilbert, but then they're putting one in Dallas, which is so interesting, because there have been so many Arizona restaurants that hit infiltrated the Dallas area, you know that we've only gone to here and now they're showing up there. So I wonder what that connection is

Rick Denton  18:47
probably a similar demographic, socio economic or just culturally or whatever. It certainly has been that yeah, so that was great.

Clancy Denton  18:55
And then Wednesday, you worked in the morning. I went shopping so again, just

Rick Denton  19:02
the joke I was gonna make you don't spend all of my daily bill right while you're out. Shopping it forever 20 longer safe.

Clancy Denton  19:10
And then we got in the car and drove up to Tucson and checked into our beautiful hotel out here too. Yeah, the

Rick Denton  19:18
Eddie's a nice little property which it's got a fun story to it. I think we'll want to find more about so the owner is grandfather owned Well, his grandfather's name was Eddie and he had a bakery that was one of the biggest bakeries in the area. So the hotel is littered with memorabilia and then your your theme. Like the pillows stitched the

Clancy Denton  19:41
all the drinks had a bread bread on the bar is is decorated and lined with rolling. Which, which when we got here yesterday and there was a retirement community coming for a happy hour,

Rick Denton  19:53
two of those mini buses retirement community showed up. For their happy hour

Clancy Denton  19:59
they We're having a good time. And I mean, all the women wanted to come over and see the rolling pins. They were all you know, because

Rick Denton  20:06
we hadn't even noticed the rolling and suddenly looking around our little what is that? Yeah,

Clancy Denton  20:12
I remember that one. Yeah, I was.

Rick Denton  20:16
I didn't even think about those there. Were there Limited Edition rolling pins is there. Oh, that was the World Fair in 1952. No, that

Clancy Denton  20:23
was, that was fun. And then finally go pick up Tegan. And

Rick Denton  20:27
finally, I mean, that's the part of the strip we were talking about. Like from travel, we finally got to see the girl that essentially made us empty nesters. Yeah.

Clancy Denton  20:36
And she is having a bowl. I mean, it was so we went back to the same restaurant that in our second episode we talked about where she lost it. And on the way there Yeah, and got so upset and you know, didn't really wasn't interested in talking or eating when we got there. And so she said, I want to go back because I want that grilled cheese and tomato soup. And so, again, another great restaurant but hug which is in downtown Tucson. So totally different experience. I mean, she was nonstop talking. And it's like she's grown up.

Rick Denton  21:17
Well, I said, I said it at dinner. I said I'm having College, the cliched intellectual debate, conversation with Tegan which she was never one to shy away from a conversation. It's not that she didn't have that. But there's something different about the college kid using those college words and college sociology conversation about the blah blah blah theory she's

Clancy Denton  21:38
because she's in her sociology class now. Yeah, we were and and she can carry I mean, she could always carry on an intelligent conversation. But now she has the stuff to back in.

Rick Denton  21:49
She has the lexicon to write the words that allow her to have that. I'm a college freshman vibe. And she wouldn't get snooty about my tone is that way. It was so nice to see her come she even made that joke though, because we came down for straight on our way to the rest of Fourth Avenue. And she goes yeah, I think was right there by that Irish pub where I was just bawling.

Clancy Denton  22:08
That's what she had told her friends that too, when they went down there to eat somewhere else. She said, Oh, yeah, I broke down in front of that Irish Pub right there. So

Rick Denton  22:17
it was great. Yeah.

Clancy Denton  22:18
I mean, and she, you know, we finished dinner. She's like, No, I don't want to go back to the room yet. So we walked around campus. And I mean, it was just so cool to see her. Oh, yeah, that's blah, blah building and that's this building and oh, that's where this happened. And this you know, my classes down there and I you know, she she's been here six weeks now. And she's She even made the comment. She said, I feel like I live here years that one day, it just clicked and we all got that feeling when we went to our colleges, but she loves living here.

Rick Denton  22:52
She She said she's like, I don't know if it's a sociology or psychology term. But there has to be that term of where you your mind shifts. And it goes from this is, this is not my normal. This is not my normal Oh, this is my normal for me when I still remember because I had some homesickness, that first semester at Duke, and even to the point of putting a transfer application in place, never mailed it in. But it was when I came home for Thanksgiving, and then even reinforced for Christmas when I realized, oh, wait, the home the experience that I thought it was, wait, I'm missing school more. So I'm glad that she's come to this in six weeks that she realizes now this is where her places, it was great to see the competence that she had on campus. And I don't mean like that she was shy or insecure before. But when we were here before the a lot of it was maybe I was saying, Okay, let's go to this place. This is where the bookstore is. I know how to get there. We didn't not that we would have would have but we didn't need to say any of that. Because she just took us to wherever she wanted to go when

Clancy Denton  23:53
we were here. The first time. Yes. Dropping out. Every every question we asked was I don't know. I don't know. Now. I don't think we heard that one time last night.

Rick Denton  24:04
Even Oh, yeah. Why don't walk through campus. It's much faster to go around this, like just the basic logistics of

Clancy Denton  24:09
jaywalk on this corner. The traffic patterns really weird.

Rick Denton  24:15
But that's it's like talking to a local and she's become a local. And that's good to see. I think I bet you this takes more episodes to process. I asked. I think I asked JP and Aaron this question. And I know I want to ask myself this question. I'm just not ready to answer it yet. How do I feel differently about myself? Now that I've seen this right? Yeah, that piece of I'm the one guiding us on campus? Well, I that's not my role anymore. This is her place. And that's the last child what does that mean for us? What does that mean for me that the all of that will be interesting. Yeah.

Clancy Denton  24:47
And I think JP said that, you know, and Aeryn talked about how her relationship had changed with Kennedy. But I think JP said that, you know you did good because she's not She wasn't telling us hey, I don't know if this is the right place for me. She was, hey, this is awesome. You know, I already, you know, we're doing this all this weekend. And, you know, the one group of friends we're taking out Friday night, you know, we can't wait to meet them. And her. One of her best friends is coming out next weekend to tour campus. And she's so excited about that. She's already set up plans for them to do things. So she's embedded. Yeah, she's embedded. And she's just so enthusiastic about it. It was fun to hear her love classes again, because in high school, it was a lot of you know, this this time, she has a couple of long, long classes. But it was so neat to hear her talk about how much she really is enjoying her professors. And they're getting to know her. And so it's, it's just been it was just so it made mom's heart. If that made a big noise, it made mom's heart film very, very good.

Rick Denton  26:05
It was definitely good to see. And you can walk away from here. comfortable and confident I'm looking forward to we haven't spent too much. That was nice. I'm looking forward to spend some time on campus and absorbing that, because it definitely feels the college campus. What's what's I was saying this we were hiking today. What's weird about today is we're about to have our version of new normal Denton family in that Tanner is coming down to rev I think we talked about this already. But Tanner is coming down to ref. In he's going to go to debt while you stay the same hotel with a mother. But we're all going to dinner together. So it's going to be the four of us having dinner together, as if we were just a normal family picking up our son after a day of work. But it's an Arizona. So we have a new normal to have two for one evening. And that'll be fun. And the rest of the weekend. Definitely looking forward to as well. There.

It'll be that'll be good.

It's going to be it's gonna be a good rest of the weekend.

Clancy Denton  26:56
We're hoping to do another we'll see we're hoping to do our remote from campus. If we can find someplace we may have to go really early before all the kids are up at some point. But

Rick Denton  27:06
you mean like 1045 I'm sorry, not every action is whatever that animal is, we may need to finish recordings. I'm not sure it enjoys us recording. So stay tuned.

We found ourselves at the University of Arizona campus. Not as much dirt around a few more people. We just started recording after classes shift shifted. And it's kind of cool seeing this campus full of life. Maybe some memories of even when we were back in on campuses, trying to quickly get between glasses or whatever. But it's another gorgeous day here. We're standing in the shade, of course, as it's a warm up, but it sure nice, but it's great to actually be on campus for family weekend when there's kids around. It's kind of fun.

Clancy Denton  28:05
It's nice to have chickens in class right now. So we're just waiting for her to get out and then we'll go do lunch and hang out some walk around campus or do some shopping and then take our group of friends out to dinner last night. It was so fun last night Tanner did get to come out his game. Unfortunately I cancelled but he still came up and because he wanted to see Tegan you know, they haven't seen each other in six weeks. So we ate an amazing Mexican restaurant. It was so good.

Rick Denton  28:36
Like your classic very, very old Mexican restaurant. They're taken they're writing things down on notepads. It felt it felt family run probably is family run and had such an old feel to it, which was fantastic. Food

was excellent. It was so good. So we have not been disappointed with the food here in Tucson so far. Deep though now. Me, me me and beat me indeed though. Alright,

Rick Denton  29:04
so check that out. Yeah, what was great about that, too, is it was the four of us together, we expected that. And it was nice to actually all four be back together. And it was as if it was just like back to normal. Like it was a lot of fun.

Clancy Denton  29:18
It was except what we said about Tegan how how she is different Tanner afterwards when we went back to the hotel and sat up at the bar, and you know, I just asked him I said so what do you what are your perspectives on your sister and he said, she's just so much more bubbly than she was during high school and I said, Oh, that's a good way to put he said she just talked so much and she was so excited about everything she was talking about. And, you know, I was like, well, she wasn't like just, you know, wah wah during high school

You know, it was It wasn't

Rick Denton  29:55
You figured it outthis morning.

Clancy Denton  29:57
It was just she was just so regimented withdrawal even schedule and, you know, she was exhausted. And so yeah, I think it was just,

Rick Denton  30:08
and she would have, like the stories that she would tell, she could totally resonate with Hannah about those. And they there was times that we would sit at the table and they would just riff on stories, college stories back and forth. And even though they're two totally different people, they're still having this college experience together, which is a lot.

Clancy Denton  30:24
And Tanner did say, you know, a couple of times, like yeah, when Tegan would say something he's like get back to me when you're a senior senior i This has kicked in in that one for sure. If you didn't think it existed in college. It does. And all of his roommates have it too.

Rick Denton  30:45
Yeah, so it was great to see them we're gonna enjoy now finally, it does get weird because we've been out here so long but we're finally this is actually Parents Weekend. Parents we can sign a bear down sign Uber, they've got tents being set up and all of that it is the real deal. And we finally get to experience that with her today. Enjoying all we talked about is food. We're gonna enjoy a little more food and they'll have more food we enjoy food. And then tomorrow the game and it's been It's fun being here. This is definitely more of a college campus. Maybe I will try spin around a little bit. You know, you can see it's just that kind of classic campus vibe. The tents are not normal. That's for Parents Weekend, but that quad space and being able to

Clancy Denton  31:30
another beautiful campus just to ASU is beautiful too. But this one is just like you said it's more classic looking. Yeah.

Rick Denton  31:38
Yeah, absolutely. It's got its rectangle quad in the middle with the grassy space and kids wandering around classes today as well. So alright, it's been fun. I don't know if there's more to this episode or not. We don't even know that yet. But it's been a lot of fun.

Clancy Denton  31:54

Rick Denton  32:00
